Man next to a vanAt OLCI, our industry contacts often ask us to find suitable candidates to join them. We then aim to match students to these vacancies using our Job Support Service*. Centre: Newcastle

Years with OLCI: 2

What did you do prior to becoming an electrical tutor?

I’ve 43 years experience in the electrical/electronic engineering field. During that time, I spent 23 years working as a lecturer. Since 2000 I’ve had several jobs in industry; the last being as an electrical tester working on the new Royal Victoria Infirmary hospital extension in Newcastle upon Tyne.

What do you like most about being an electrical tutor?

Passing on my knowledge and seeing students progress from novice to experienced and giving them an opportunity to become qualified electricians. The personal reward comes from seeing a student that I’ve been training successfully set up their own business or get a job with a company. Read more »

plumberHere are some examples of companies who offer our students work placements/experience, some of which could lead to full time employment. Successful students get a first class opportunity to showcase their skills and personality, whilst gaining valuable work experience with a top company. If any of these roles are of interest, please email your CV to annette@olci.info, indicating which opportunity you would prefer.

EPS Maintenance

Students interested should have a minimum City & Guilds Level 2 in either plumbing (6129) or electrical (2330), or be working towards their gas qualification. It would also be preferable if you had some practical experience too.
